As a Christ follower, I believe what the Bible says is true. I believe that the God-man Jesus lived perfectly and gave his life for my sin. And because he did, in God’s eyes, I am a holy, righteous saint, just as Jesus. But to my dismay, my personal experience is often in conflict with this truth.

I’m finally coming to terms with my lack of handyman talent. I wish I could finish my basement or replace the brakes on the Toyota all by myself, but I never seem to make time to for do-it-yourself projects. Shivers. That’s what I get when I read Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting.” I can think of too many times when I’m preoccupied with my own self-interest instead of giving myself up for Tiffany.

Most people I know are married, but it’s hard to really know if they’re satisfied with their relationship or if they’re faking it really well. Do you know what I mean? In public they can put on a good face, but behind closed doors I wonder if they’re really at each other’s throat, if they’re barely surviving.

My wife can do so many things at one time and make them look effortless. This is a small tribute to her mad skills.
